SUMMER OF GRACES
AT IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH
JUNE 22ND - JUNE 29TH, 2025
The "Summer of Graces" in Catholic theology refers to a period of reflection and growth, often coinciding with the summer months, where Catholics can deepen their faith and appreciate the graces received throughout the year, particularly during the Church's major feasts. This period encourages practices like daily Scripture reading, attending Mass, and reflecting on the presence of Jesus.

ICC is a Sacred Site for the Jubilee Year
Bishop Malesic has designated Immaculate Conception Church a sacred sites as a place of pilgrimage in the Diocese of Cleveland at which the plenary indulgence may be obtained.
During a Jubilee year in the Catholic Church, special graces, particularly plenary indulgences, are offered to the faithful. These indulgences, granted through the merits of Jesus Christ, remove the temporal punishment due to sins. To receive these graces, one typically needs to visit a designated Jubilee pilgrimage site, confess sins, receive Holy Communion, and pray for the Pope's intentions.

Nativity of Saint John the BaptistList Item 3
Only three birthdays are celebrated on the Church’s liturgical calendar, the Nativity of Our Lord (December 25), the Nativity of His Mother (September 8), and the Nativity of His forerunner, John the Baptist, on June 24. St. John the Baptist was set apart from the womb to prepare the way of the Lord and was a significant figure connected to the Incarnation and the Redemption. The Church honors him because of his role in preparing the way for Christ.
John the Baptist spent his adult life preparing the way for Jesus, and proclaiming that “the Kingdom of Heaven is close at hand.”. He was born to Zachary and Elizabeth, an elderly married couple. The Angel Gabriel had visited Zachary and told him that his wife would bear a child, even though she was already past the child-bearing age.
Elizabeth was Mary’s cousin and Zachary was a priest of the Temple in Jerusalem. As a baby in the womb, John recognized Jesus’ presence in Mary’s womb when Mary visited Elizabeth soon after the Annunciation. Both women were pregnant at the same time.

Anointing of the Sick & Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick gives strength and support and can be administered to anyone struggling with an illness. The healing that occurs in this sacrament of anointing is not necessarily physical healing. While we believe that physical healing can occur through the great power of God, the grace that is infused through this special sacrament is the reminder of the eternal presence of God in our human suffering.
When Fr. Donnelly blessing the oil of anointing, he asks God to "send the power of your Holy Spirit, the Consoler, into this precious oil. Make this oil a remedy for all who are anointed with it; heal them in body, in soul and in spirit, and deliver them from every affliction" (Pastoral Care of the Sick, #123).
